The S.mart network organized last November 10, 2022 the webinar entitled "Rebound effects: what are the scientific and operational challenges for the socio-ecological transition?"

In this webinar, the evolutionary and plural nature of the concept was analyzed in order to present clues for reflection on its uptake and delimitation. Currently, there are several questions on the subject: Does a rebound effect only bring harmful consequences related to environmental issues? Or can these consequences also be beneficial and create value? What is the link between the rebound effect and the socio-ecological impact? How is it integrated into the design process? Is it necessarily unpredictable or can it be apprehended through models, methods, assessment tools or simulation? Should it be approached in a multidisciplinary or transdisciplinary way?

Within the D-TECHNOSS project, the concept of rebound effects is an important element to consider in the doctoral works of Lou-Lyne and Melissa. However, we believe that the study of this concept in other disciplines will allow a better understanding of all its implication.

This edition was animated and presented by

Michal Kozderka – UNISTRA
Emmanuel Caillaud – CNAM
Lou-Lyne Leconte – member of D-TECHNOSS, PhD student URCA/UTT
Tatiana Reyes – member of D-TECHNOSS, UTT
Jean-Claude Boldrini – Nantes University
